Letter From Shelton's Mom
We all had so much fun. We were able to go to Sea World and all 4 Disney Parks. We also spent a day at Cocoa Beach. Shelton's eyes lit up the second we were on the plane. He laughed out loud at the turbulance....
His favorite parks were Magic Kingdom and Epcot. He rode all kinds of rides! (The bumpier ones were his favorites) On our "rest day" we headed to the beach and as soon as he was out of the van there he had the biggest smile on his face. I sat on the edge of the beach, where the waves could get us, and held him so that when the waves came they went under him and bounced him up. The result was pure joy!
During the trip I watched Shelton purposefully move his arms to grab at things. It doesn’t happen at home. When we got back, his therapists said it was the best day he ever had for them. For my son, who will never have any "normal" life, or however you want to word it... this WAS the highlight of his entire life. It is a gift that I could never have given him. We will never forget it.
