Chapter Volunteer Information

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana Volunteer Announcements:

New: Wooden Stars in wish packets!
In honor of our 25th year, we have provided our wish families with wooden wish stars so the wish child may decorate them either prior to meeting with you or for that special day when you first visit. We have also placed a special 25th Anniversary sheet in your volunteer packets for the child to draw a picture of their wish, their family, etc. for us. These items are a great ice breaker and a wonderful way to get to the heart of the wish. The stars and pictures will be used to commemorate this anniversary and to thank volunteers, donors, special friends of the Foundation, and to honor families whose children have passed. We ask you return the decorated stars and the 25th Anniversary sheets to our offices with the wish paperwork.

Making Monthly Contact
While your wish child waits for their wish experience, remember to make regular monthly contact with them. And once every three months, let your wish child know they are in our thoughts with a "Thinking of You" gift that is somehow related to their chosen wish experience or their hobbies and interests.

We are Tax Exempt
Please remember we are a 501(c)3 organization and we are exempt from local sales taxes. If you wish to make a purchase for the Foundation, please contact your local regional office to obtain a copy of our tax exempt form.

Travel Wishes
We will not be scheduling travel wishes that require passports until a copy of each family member's passport is received. Time delays in obtaining passports have caused a number of issues with travel schedules. Please make sure the family is aware of this when they are choosing their wish so passports can be obtained.

Media & Wish Families
Families who have signed the liability release and authorization form and welcome media attention can have their experience shared with the media. If you have an idea you would like to share and a family you are working with, please contact our Marketing, Communication and Development Department at 877-206- 9474. Please do not contact the media directly. Our communications team will be happy to discuss your ideas and possibly create a press release to send to the media. This way, both the wish story and the Foundation's key messages are being released to the media.

Wish Party Reimbursement
Keep in mind when granting a wish that the Foundation will reimburse you for up to $25.00 for Wish enhancements for a family of four (and $5.00 per additional family member for larger families) and $25.00 for Wish parties. The Foundation cannot reimburse you if you do not turn in your original receipt. Please remember to keep all of your original receipts so we can compensate you accordingly.
