Jared is an enthusiastic thirteen-year-old boy from Beachwood, Ohio. His unique wish was to witness the Miramar Air Show in San Diego, California. He loves airplanes, going treasure hunting with his metal detector and playing tennis. Jared has hopes of someday becoming a pilot or a police officer.
Unlike many teens his age, Jared suffers from a rare disease called generalized dystonia type 1. Generalized dystonia type 1 is characterized by painful muscle contractions resulting in uncontrollable distortions of the body.
Despite his life-threatening battle with generalized dystonia type 1, Jared has kept his hopes and spirits high throughout all of his treatments and doctors appointments and was thrilled with the chance to cast a wish with Make-A-Wish. When the Make-A-Wish Foundation
® of Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, Northeast Ohio Region gave Jared the opportunity to cast any magical wish his heart desired, he immediately knew that a trip to San Diego, California to see the Miramar Air Show was just what he dreamed of!
After Jared witnessed his wish come true, he and his family wrote a letter to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Northeast Ohio Regional staff to thank them for the wonderful wish trip.
Dear Make-A-Wish Foundation Staff,
I just want to let you know what a wonderful time we had in San Diego. It was an amazing experience for Jared and the rest of us. From the moment the limousine picked us up, we knew we were in for a special time. 
The van was great, the hotel was fantastic. They couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating! The marine base tour and flight simulator were experiences that I am sure Jared will remember forever. We now have new friends in the marines. Jared was treated so well. We have tons of memorable photos. Jared came home with all sorts of mementos, autographs, photos with Marines and Blue Angels, and even a Blue Angels flight suit. He is one happy kid! I forgot to mention that a Blue Angels pilot spent an entire hour with Jared in the flight simulator -- that alone was priceless.
We are so thankful to Make-A-Wish for truly making Jared's wish come true.
