Dear Make-A-Wish,
Tyler had always dreamed of going to Disney World! Little did we know that our family would be going with your help. June 1, 2009 Tyler was diagnosed with Batten Disease, a rare, genetic and terminal neurological disorder that affects only 450 children in The US and Canada.
Because of Tyler’s rapid vision loss, Make-A-Wish made sure his wish was granted quickly! On July 23, 2009, we were able to leave EVERYTHING behind us and experience the magic that Disney has to offer...in true Make-A-Wish style! Our family, including Tyler’s brother, Ryan age 5, enjoyed our first vacation together with no worries; we were able to enjoy everything and anything we wanted due to the incredible hearts and generosity that was given to us through MAW. It never felt like a “charity” vacation. It felt like a vacation that was given to us through love. To see Tyler’s face light up as he snuggled with all of the characters is a priceless image in our minds. His favorite part was when Peter Pan danced by us in the night parade and shook his hand, he still talks about that to this day!
