Jared, an 18 year-old of Northeast Ohio who has battled with leukemia had a unique wish granted by the Foundation in July of 2009. Jared’s greatest wish was to visit the fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. Jared and his family traveled to visit the “city that doesn’t sleep” and did just that.
First, Jared and his family were picked up by a limousine one early morning which took he and his family to the airport; this would be the family’s first trip in a limousine. Once Jared and his family arrived in Nevada, they were surprised to be staying in the ever-famous Palazzo Resort-Hotel. They woke every morning to a breathtaking view of the city from their suite. Jared and his family spent many hours at the hotel pool and sight-seeing through the city making sure to visit Treasure Island, the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay and the Botanical Gardens at Bellagio.
Just when they thought they couldn’t experience anything more beautiful, the family was taken on a personal helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon! After six days and many memories made...
“Our trip came to an end too quickly; however, we returned home with thankful hearts, wonderful memories and lots of pictures. Our whole family is so grateful for the opportunity to take this trip. Make-A-Wish really did make Jared’s wish come true! The trip was like a fantasy. We were free from the worries of the last 18 months. It was like we were pretending to be someone else and that we didn’t have a care in the world. Jared still has 22 months of daily chemotherapy left to go through…as he continues his journey, we will remember those marvelous days in Las Vegas. We will never forget the joy and peace our family shared. The work you do has touched our lives in ways you can never imagine. We are sincerely thankful” Jared, Jennifer, Terry and Tyler Trakas.
