Bouncing back from Leukemia

Wish Child, NateIn many ways, Nate is a typical six-year-old who loves listening to Keith Urban, reading June B. Jones books and playing video games. The Loan Oak Elementary School kindergarten student also has a passion for basketball. Since he was diagnosed with leukemia, Nate has had many doctor’s appointments, chemotherapy treatments and medical tests. Living with the side affects of the disease, the treatments often leave Nate feeling tired and weak.

When Nate was asked what his one true wish would be, he knew right away that he wanted to have a personalized basketball court. He designed a special mural with his own symbol of hope. A team of contractors and volunteers came together over a six-month period to build a special basketball court with Nate’s custom design.
