In many ways, Ian is a typical teenager who loves cheering on The Ohio State University Buckeyes, listening to punk rock music and watching Adam Sandler movies. He also has a part-time job at a local grocery store. When Ian arrived early for work one day, the store manager was in for quite a surprise. Ian wanted to arrange regular payroll deductions to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation
® of Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. What makes this gift of hope so amazing is that Ian is fighting for his life.
When Ian was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 16, hundreds of lives changed forever. It has been a little more than a year since his diagnosis, and Ian has shown incredible strength, patience and faith recovering from brain surgery, taking daily medications and fighting the fatigue that plagues him.
“Ian has had a tremendously positive impact on his peers at school. We are very proud of how he has handled himself while dealing with such a life-changing diagnosis,” says Ian’s Mom, Karen.

What makes this story most amazing is that Ian’s wish had not yet been granted when his passion for giving to the Foundation was ignited. The memories of Ian’s recent wish trip to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas has kept his hopes high which gives him the strength to fight his difficult battle each day.
