C.J.’s Whopper of a Wish

C.J.'s Big CatchWhen 13 year-old CJ was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, his life changed forever. Side affects from chemotherapy, traveling to doctor’s appointments, and taking daily medications often leave CJ feeling tired and weak. When the Roann, Indiana teen met with local wish volunteers, he told them that his dream was to go on a fishing trip in Canada. CJ’s wish began with a flight to Ontario and a scenic drive to Peffley’s Canadian Wilderness Camp, a remote fishing resort on the north end of Wabaskang Lake. It was there that CJ fished for walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, jumbo perch and whitefish. “CJ was able to fish as much as he wanted and enjoy the great outdoors with our family. Words cannot describe the wonderful things that happened for CJ and my entire family that week,” said his dad. “We didn’t want it to end.” Thanks to the UAW Local 685 in Kokomo for making CJ’s wish come true as part of a three-year national sponsorship!
