How it Helps

When a child is asked to share his or her wish, the response often begins with "I wish to go to . . ." More than 74 percent of our wishes granted last year involved travel. Airline tickets are the Foundation's single largest expense, translating to over 2,300 airline tickets! You hold the ticket to fulfilling a child's wish. Donated miles and hotel points are pooled together and turned into free tickets and rooms used for destination wishes saving the Foundation thousands of dollars each year. You can Share the Power of a Wish^® by donating your individual unused hotel points and frequent flyer miles or by holding a company mileage drive.

Individual Donations

Without the help of hotels, airlines and thousands of frequent travelers, granting wishes would be incredibly expensive. However, most major airlines and hotels will allow their customers to transfer frequent flier miles and hotel points either to the charity of their choice or to a charity fund managed by the airline or hotel. These donations result in substantial savings to the Foundation, at no cost to individuals.

Corporate/Employee Donations

Holding a "Wings for Wishes" mileage drive is a great way to get your organization involved in community service, serves as a great team building exercise and is a unique donation option to help a local child's wish come true.

Donating unused frequent flyer miles through a "Wings for Wishes" frequent flyer mileage drive enables the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana to send scores of children and their families on trips of a lifetime, creating joyful memories for years to come.

Please note: The IRS recognizes frequent traveler points as a gift or as an award from the corporation to the individual; therefore, miles and points donated to charity are not considered tax-deductible.
