For twelve-year-old Travis, the ability to express his fears, emotions and feelings through poetry and short stories, became a way of coping with the side effects of his life-threatening medical condition. When volunteers from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® met with Travis and his family about the chance to see his one true wish realized, Travis knew the opportunity to have one of his short stories or poems published would be a dream come true. “I knew I wanted to be an author ever since I was eight years old,” Travis said.
When it came time to decide which story would make its way to the printer, Travis chose The Spider Who Never Gave Up, a children’s book about Sparkey the Spider who struggles to learn how to spin a web. For months, Travis worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Greenshag Marketing and Design and many other contributors to produce the final story. After celebrating his wish with a book-signing party, Travis’s wish became a reality as his story was not only distributed to friends of his family and the foundation, but the book also found its way to the shelves of Barnes and Noble Bookstores! “I wrote this book to help inspire kids to never give up,” Travis said.
