Ebonee on the Town

For 11-year-old Ebonee, the opportunity to spend a day shopping with her mom was a dream come true, and served as the perfect reprieve from required doctors’ visits to help treat her life-threatening medical condition, sickle cell anemia. Ebonee, who loves reading, visiting the library and playing on her computer, could think of no better wish than the chance to shop all-day at Polaris Fashion Place right before Christmas.

On the day of her wish, Ebonee was greeted by a limousine, which served as her escort for the entire day. When she arrived at the mall, her first order of business was a private meeting with Santa Clause, to ensure her Christmas list had made it in time. After meeting with Santa, Ebonee began shopping in search of new shoes, gold hoop earrings and lots of books. With a little break for lunch at California Pizza Kitchen, she spent the entire day visiting Lazarus, Kay Jewelers, Stride Rite, Waldenbooks, the teddy bear factory and many other locations. Before heading home, Ebonee rested her tired hands with a manicure at the nail salon.
